I did a search of the core WordPress codebase. WordPress only sets a reply to header in one scenario. It adds the header to admin user comment notifications. If the user commenter did not supply an email address the field defaults to wordpress@domain.com.

I was just curious under what exact circumstances WP itself uses the reply to header. Not sure if that really adds anything to the discussion…
