Yes, if you supplied a valid URL and Connections was able to retrieve that image from that URL you would see an image when editing an entry which was imported.

If you are not seeing an image for an imported entry, verify that the supplied URLs are valid and that the server you are importing from permits outbound connections to that URL. The latter is generally is not an issue but it is possible if your web host is very strict on outbound connections and image might not be able to be fetched. Even though this is possible, I have not yet run int where this was an actual issue. So, that said, I would double check the image URL that are being supplied are correct.
