RE: I addressed the mixed content issue and it restored the Connections Directory on the site and not sure how but the custom layout we created is working again.

Good to hear you fully backup and running! I suspect that your custom CSS for the template you created for Connections was in one of those files being blocked by the browser due to being mixed content.

Of note and unrelated to Connections, looking at your site, it does seem one CSS file is not being loaded because it is being reported as not found by the server. This is causing a slight delay in loading the page in the browser.
