No, I understand exactly what you are asking. Data is part of a category name. category names are not searched by the keyword search. The fields which are search can be found on the Connections : Settings admin page under the search tab. If you wish to search for categories or part of category name, click the category drop down and start typing data, it will return Communications / Data as a matching category which the list can be filtered by.
I do have two snippets which do alter search results. One for to add to the results when matches are found in the category description. The second for adding entries to the results based on exact category name match (not partial matching). Neither would do xactly as you want but the second is close and the first could be used to get exact what you want by adding the category name to the category description. Would that work?
