I’m guessing you are suing the Slim Plus template. Is that correct? The Slim Plus template does not have a detail/profile view.

What you could do is enable the Single Entry Template option and then on the Connections Templates admin page activate the Default Card template for both the Individual and Organization template types.

Now, navigate to the Connections : Manage admin page, you can copy the URL from the View link under each entry to paste into their class to their member profile. When the students click that link, instead of displaying the entry using the Slim Plus template, it be displayed with the Default Card template which displays most of all info by default. This should more or less achieve your goal.
