How the search works will depend on the server database setup. If Connections can, it’ll use FULLTEXT queries and if it can not, it’ll fallback to a simple keyword search which would yield the results you’re seeing.

One thing to check is to make sure you did not turn off FULLTEXT support in the settings. Go to the Connections : Settings admin page and make sure the FULLTEXT option is checked. If it is and you get the same search results then your server does not support it.
