You can try out this functionality without purchasing anything, except for search but you can still see if the search results will be satisfactory by searching in the admin.

Here’s the setup:

On the Connections : Settings admin page under the Search tab, uncheck all search field options except First Name, Last Name and Department.

On the Connections : Templates admin page under the All template type activate Names and under both the Individual and Organization template types activate the Bio Entry Card.

This should get your in the ballpark. Let me know.
