This is where I’ve been trying from… the View link on the Pages admin page. It’s working now so all is good.

Ok, I have the a basic redirect setup… If you select the Academia option from the drop down on the main directory page, the page will redirect to the Academia page. Choosing any other category from the drop down, it stays on the main directory page filtering the results by the selected category.

Ok, I have the redirects setup, I’ll write a how to and post it on this site. This will include the instructions on how to update the code snippet to add/remove redirects. I also sent the invoice. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

Thanks for your help on this custom request. I paid the invoice on Thursday Sept. 17th via PayPal and wanted to know where I can locate the written instructions on how to update the code snippet so that I can maintain the list of redirects.

I am still working on the writeup. I plan on posting it as a new QuickTip. The short version is…

Go to the Snippets admin page. It is the scissors icon under the Plugins icon.

You will see a snippet named “Connections :: Category Redirect“. Edit this snippet.

On the edit snippet screen, you’ll see a redirect map. The left number if the Connection category ID and the right number is the page ID.

To add a new redirect, add a new row at the bottom of the list following the same pattern.

Example: catID => pageID,

To remove a redirect, delete the corresponding row in the redirect map.

Yes, the code snippet I came up to do category redirection, like the initial search results snippet, will be posted in the QuickTips section in the site. That way if I ever make breaking changes to Connections, I’ll update the documentation/QuickTip to fix it.
