Yes, as of version 0.7.3, the required default.po file is available for translation.

The current version of Connections is not translation ready. The next version will be. I’m currently about 90% finished.
thanks when do you expect to be finished?
I’m already late according to my self imposed deadline … I hoping the release in the next few weeks.
Also here waiting for the international version Thanks for the good work Steve.
I’m cheering with the crowd here for a translation-ready version!
I´love to use your cool plugin and need to translate the public part of it into german. Looking forward!
Meanwhile is there a way to translate the hardcoded lines anywhere? I can´t find the file where names like “home, cell phone, work phone, personal email, etc.” are being defined.
These string can be found in the class.options.php file. Hope that helps.
thanks for the fast reply. This helps a lot
Besides, where Do I find the linktext to “Add to Address Book” which is placed at the bottom line of the standard card. I would like to change it into german too.
That would depend on the template you are using. Let me know and I’ll point you to the correct file.
I´m using your template Bio Entry Card 1.0.
Change line 37 to be this:
<span><?php echo $vCard->download( array('anchorText'=>'TRANSLATE HERE') ); ?></span>
Hi Steven i want to change some part in English language type: work phone, work fax, website ecc.. Where i can find the file to change all this field in italian language? I search on class-option.php i change it but he doesn’t work

im sorry i don’t understand… con you explain me better please?
Another question i had download the new version of connections but if you try to selected a list category in home page he retourn in home page. I saw the permalink and the FAQ for the support…
look this http://coopsociali.it/site/
I replied to the permalink question in the permalink FAQ.
You need to download Poedit and install it. You then need to open the default.po file found in the ../plugins/connections/lang folder. When you are done translating save it as connections-it_IT.po. If you send me the finished file I can include it with Connections.
i can only translate what i need or all ?
Yes, you can translate only what you need.
Hi what can i do to change the default language with my new PO/MO file. i’ve overwrited the default file on the directory with mine but it doesn’t work. So you can give me more information for how to do? Thanks in advance Matteo
You can not simply overwrite the default.po file with a translated one. You have to rename it to connections-xx_XX.po the “xx_XX” would represent the language. For example, connections-es_ES.po would be for Spanish.
See this page for the correct code for your language: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language
Once that is done, you need to make sure you have the language files for your language installed. This can be done by installing your region specific version of WordPress. You can learn more here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_in_Your_Language
I hope that helps.
My site is in italian language i’ve create a .po file in italian and i have added in cmap plugin language folder…but it doesn’t work.. probably i must to say to cmap to change the fille to upload the words …i don’t know change a string? Can you help me please?
You can not load the po file into the cMap folder, it must be loaded in the lang folder. The same folder from which you copied the po file from. Since it is Italian, you must name the file as : connections-it_IT.po
Now since you mention cMap… There are shortcode option yu can set that translate its strings. Here’s a link to a FAQ that explains how: How do I use the str_***** shortcode options?
Here’s a complete list of string options for cMap:
Hi Steven, me again…
How to expand text line ? I was able to translate but it shows me only half the text !?
Maybe with styles.css ??
This question is in relation to a template using the str_* shortcode options, right? Can you share a link to your directory and I’ll take a look.
Which directory you have in mind ?
When i use string :str_select_all=’Sve drzave’ it only show “sve”
I can’t see anything at this link. It’s a preview link which isn’t accessible to visitors, like me. Could you reply with an exact copy of the shortcode you’re using?
Hi, here it is:
[connections image='photo' tray_image='none' tray_image_fallback='none' str_image='No Photo Available' str_tray_image='No Logo Available' str_bio_show='Biografija' str_select='Odaberite državu' str_select_all='Sve Države' str_map_show=’Kako do mene’ str_map_hide=’Zatvori Mapu’ str_work_phone=’Službeni Telefon’]
The issue is the shortcode. It looks like you might have copy/pasted from the website because you have a few fancy quotes instead regular quotes. Try this shortcode:
[connections image='photo' tray_image='none' tray_image_fallback='none' str_image='No Photo Available' str_tray_image='No Logo Available' str_bio_show='Biografija' str_select='Odaberite državu' str_select_all='Sve Države' str_map_show='Kako do mene' str_map_hide='Zatvori Mapu' str_work_phone='Službeni Telefon']
Hmmm, now is working. It seams that copy/past doesn’t work. You must type in. I didn’t find this information nowhere.
Tnx for all replays
It’s right here: QuickTip: Working with Shortcodes
This is good advise for working with shortcode for every plugin.
Up until now I was using the 0.7.2.6 version of your plugin and recently discovered the possibility to translate the plugin. In my testenvironment this seems to work ok. There’s only a problem in showing the birthday date: it’s shown in English format. It shows January 30th 2013, while I’d like it to be shown as 30 januari 2013 (dutch locale). Can I change the date settings to Dutch locale?
That is on my to do list. The change will likely be part of the next major feature release this summer.
Steven What I can do if my WordPress is in English, but I want the Connections (with Tile Plus Template) in Spanish Labels?
Take a look at this FAQ. I think that’ll meet your needs. Here’s the list of available options; found here:
str_select_all='Show All Categories'
str_image='No Photo Available'
Testing the free plugin to see if I want to use it. (looks great so far) Translated .po to dutch succesfully. It shows up fine on internet explorer but Firefox still displays english text.
Nevermind the last comment. Did not change any settings but for some reason it’s working perfectly now
Would you send me your translation? I’ll ship it as part of Connections. Thanks!
